Foxfire-Mountaineer Festival 2010


October 2 in Downtown Clayton Georgia - Parade begins at 6:00 p.m. Friday, with a street dance in downtown Clayton to begin immediately after until 9:00pm. Saturday events – 10:00am – 5:00pm – $5.00 admission including competetions ($4.00 Foxfire only).

Rabun County "Foxfire Mountaineer Festival" the renewal of a mountain tradition where having fun might get you dirty. Enjoy Street dancing, all ages can compete for prizes in old fashioned events, beauty pageants. "Rip-roaring music all day long on the main stage along with a Jam Session area so bring your instruments and join the fun".

The hale and hearty of all ages will compete for prizes in such events as: Climb the Greased Pole; Catch a Greased Pig; Wood Chopping & Wood Sawing Contests; Archery Competition, and Hog & Turkey Calling Contests and more! Bring a chair and spend the day in great, old-fashioned, mountain revelry! Beauty Pageants will take place August 28th – so our Miss Mountaineer 2010 will be available for the fesatival. There will be a jam session...bring your instruments!  We have a terrific music line-up throughout the day – as follows:

 There will be exhibits and vendors located inside and outside the Civic Center – some complete with demonstrations.

Don’t miss the renewed mountain tradition where having fun might get you a little dirty but the preacher is right beside you, getting just as dirty as you do!
